A Boston that creates more pathways to prosperity is a better Boston for everyone. In this spirit, we invite employers, small businesses, and community-based organizations to join the effort to support good jobs for Boston residents through a new initiative: BostonHires.

BostonHires is a city-led movement to establish Boston residents in good jobs – jobs paying at least the living wage (currently $16.38 per hour), with at least half of these offering employer-sponsored benefits. BostonHires aims to place 20,000 residents in good jobs by 2022.

Local employers, as well as organizations that provide job placement services, can join the movement by becoming either a BostonHires Champion or a BostonHires Advocate.

BostonHires Champion

My organization commits to:

  • place Boston residents in good jobs that pay at least Boston’s living wage
  • ensure that half of this total is offered employer-sponsored benefits

BostonHires Advocate

My organization commits to:

  • place Boston residents in good jobs that pay at least Boston’s living wage

These commitments constitute good-faith efforts to fulfill the designated pledge and to complete a simple bi-annual reporting form from the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development. An organization’s status as a BostonHires Champion or Advocate – or its degree of success in meeting BostonHires goals – will in no way negatively or positively influence its contractual or regulatory relationships with the City of Boston.
