In October 2014, Mayor Walsh announced the formation of a new Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) as part of an effort to address poverty and income inequality in Boston.
OFE’s mission is to develop financial capability and asset-building strategies that actively and aggressively counter income inequality and promote high-wage growth by embedding financial empowerment strategies into existing infrastructure.
