Rising Together Training Series

From April 2022–June 2022 OWD hosted a series of six highly interactive training webinars designed to support practitioners of workforce development programs and housing services. The training webinars focused on the shared challenges of working with youth and young adults experiencing homelessness or housing instability and explored opportunities for enhanced coordination and collaboration between the housing and workforce sectors.

Session 1: Convening Providers Serving Youth and Young Adults Experiencing Homelessness

This session was the first convening of youth service providers and staff in the Office of Workforce Development to provide seamless support for young adults and brainstorm ideas to move forward.

Session 2: Effective Practices in Case Management and Case Conferencing

This session focused on key demographics, common language, and tools for providers, and delved into effective practices in case management.

Session 3: Developing Logic Models and Appropriate Metrics for the Evaluation of Homeless Intervention Programs

This session focused on ‘what is a logic model’, discussed three examples of logic models, and allowed participants to create their own logic model.

Session 4: Program Design for Work-based Learning and Employment for Unhoused Young Adults

This session was a deep dive into program design for work-based learning and employment for young adults.

Sessions 5 & 6: Motivational Interviewing: Supporting Clients in Making Change

  • OARS Handout: Reviews and provides examples of the O.A.R.S. skills of Motivational Interviewing
  • Types of Reflections: Provides examples of different types of reflections
