The first graduating class of City Academy – a training pipeline for Boston residents – celebrated their success February 20 at Faneuil Hall with Mayor Martin J. Walsh, city departments, and program training partners. Of the 26 graduates, 13 obtained their commercial driver’s license (CDL) or hoisting credential, and 13 completed their Emergency Medical Services pre-apprenticeship.

The Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development launched City Academy in January 2018 to train a diverse talent pool of Boston residents for quality careers with the City of Boston or with the private sector.

Experience the graduation through the words of student speaker and CDL/hoisting graduate, Aadam Abdul-Musawwir:

"Thank you Mayor Walsh, thank you City Academy staff, and thank you to my City Academy colleagues - I am proud to call you my friends."
