The Office of Financial Empowerment has launched the Financial Navigator program, in partnership with the Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Fund, to guide residents through resources available to them amid the financial difficulties of the pandemic. Residents can access this free, over-the-phone service by completing this web form or calling the City of Boston information line at 3-1-1, or the Massachusetts line at 2-1-1.
The Financial Navigators can assist residents with:
- Prioritizing daily living expenses, like housing, food, and insurance
- Maximizing income, by sharing referrals that offer benefit eligibility services, emergency cash assistance, and emergency loans
- Managing debt, from credit cards to student loans to child support
- Avoiding predatory scams
- Accessing other social services
- Budgeting for future loss of income
The CFE Fund provided technical assistance and $80,000 in grant funding for the Financial Navigators program. Read the City of Boston press release to learn more.
